How to Make a Banana and Coconut Sea Moss Smoothie

How to Make a Banana and Coconut Sea Moss Smoothie

Banana and coconut make a simple smoothie base with a soft, creamy texture. Mitchelle’s guide mentions smoothies as one possible use for sea moss gel; this is a new flavour combination inspired by that idea.

Ingredients: serves two

  • Two small ripe bananas
  • 350ml unsweetened coconut drink
  • Two tablespoons of plain yoghurt or a suitable alternative, optional
  • A few drops of vanilla
  • Food-grade sea moss gel only if suitable for you, used according to its label

Method

  1. Put the bananas, coconut drink, vanilla and optional yoghurt in a blender.
  2. If using sea moss gel, follow its product-specific serving instructions.
  3. Blend until smooth, adding a little water if needed.
  4. Pour into two glasses and serve freshly made.

Make it work for your ingredients

Ripe bananas usually provide enough sweetness without syrup. Check all labels for allergens and keep refrigerated ingredients cold before blending. Use a blender suitable for frozen fruit if choosing frozen banana. Follow the gel’s own preparation and storage directions, and ask for advice if they are missing. The smoothie also works without sea moss, which may be preferable for anyone unsure whether it is suitable for them.
