Clean a glass teapot using the care instructions supplied with it. The glass, lid and infuser may have different requirements, so do not assume that every part is dishwasher-safe or suitable for the same cleaning method.

Let the pot cool first
After serving, remove the tea bag or loose ingredients when it is safe to do so. Let the pot cool before washing. Avoid sudden changes between very hot and cold conditions, and handle the lid separately so it cannot slip into the sink.
Wash each part carefully
Where handwashing is recommended, use the cleaning products and water temperature allowed by the manufacturer. A soft cloth or suitable non-abrasive tool is a sensible starting point. Pay attention to the spout and the rim, where residue can remain after a quick rinse.
Do not forget the infuser
If your pot has a removable basket, empty it and clean it separately. Check the mesh or small openings for trapped pieces. Rinse every cleaned part thoroughly so the next cup does not pick up washing-up liquid or the flavour of the previous brew.
What about stains?
Use only a stain-removal method compatible with the pot’s materials and care instructions. Avoid guessing with abrasive powders or combining cleaning chemicals. Dry the parts and store them securely. Before the next brew, check for chips or cracks and make sure the lid and infuser sit correctly.
