How to Host a Herbal Tea Tasting at Home

How to Host a Herbal Tea Tasting at Home

A herbal tea tasting at home can be as simple as sharing a few small cups and talking about what you notice. You do not need specialist equipment or tasting vocabulary. Choose a manageable selection and give each tea enough attention to enjoy it.

Choose a small line-up

Pick two or three different teas rather than opening the whole cupboard. Read the ingredients with your guests before brewing, and check that everyone is happy with the selection. Single-ingredient teas can make the differences easier to discuss.

Prepare each tea properly

Follow the instructions for each product instead of brewing them all with one guessed method. Use clean cups and keep the packets beside the matching tea. Small servings leave room to compare without filling several large mugs.

Use three simple questions

  • What do you notice in the aroma?
  • How would you describe the flavour in ordinary words?
  • Would you choose this tea again, and how would you serve it?

Try additions afterwards

Begin with the teas plain. If guests want to try honey or lemon, offer those after the first tasting so the original flavours remain clear. There is no need to agree on a winner: different preferences are part of the conversation.

Keep a note for next time

Write down each tea and a few comments. Your notes can guide the next order or a future tasting. Explore the K&M range for your selection, and share the free book with guests who want to keep discovering Caribbean herbal tea.
