A Christmas drinks station gives guests a choice beyond wine, fizzy drinks or a hurried cup of tea. You do not need a huge menu: one hot option, one cold mocktail and water are a manageable start.
Choose a small Christmas menu
Offer freshly brewed herbal tea, a cranberry-orange mocktail and plain or sparkling water. Prepare the mocktail base in advance, keeping it chilled until serving. Add bubbles and ice at the last moment rather than leaving a finished jug to go flat.
Set out what guests need
- Heatproof mugs for hot drinks and separate glasses for cold drinks.
- Clearly labelled tea choices and a bowl for used tea bags.
- Orange and lemon slices with clean serving tongs.
- Milk alternatives and sweeteners in their original packs or clearly labelled containers.
- Napkins, a drip tray and a place for used cups.
Make the arrangement practical
Keep the kettle and hot-water pouring area away from the edge of the table. Leave evergreen decorations outside food and drink containers. Label ingredients so guests can choose for themselves; do not describe a herbal drink as suitable for everyone. If a guest has questions about herbs and medication, the product instructions and their pharmacist are better guides than a party host. Finish with a small card explaining which drinks are available.
