Hot herbal tea and iced herbal tea present an ingredient in different ways. Temperature, dilution and serving style can change your impression of the drink without changing its original ingredient list.

Prepare the product correctly
The UK Tea & Infusions Association distinguishes specially labelled cold-brew products from ordinary infusions. Unless a product is labelled for cold brewing, its guidance is to prepare it with freshly boiled water first, even when the drink will later be cooled and served over ice.
Ice changes the cup
Melting ice adds water, so an iced serving can become more diluted as you drink it. That is a practical difference when comparing flavour. A cold glass and a hot mug are also different serving environments; neither makes the tea a different botanical ingredient.
Additions create another comparison
Fruit slices or sweeteners change the finished drink. To understand the temperature difference, compare plain versions before introducing several extras. Keep notes about what you added so a favourite combination can be described accurately.
Use ingredient-specific guidance
Our hibiscus iced-tea article offers a related example. For any other tea, follow its own preparation and storage instructions rather than assuming every infusion can be handled identically. This article compares serving styles rather than supplying a universal recipe.
