For herbal tea with lemon, start with a little and taste before adding more. There is no fixed amount that suits every cup: the tea’s flavour, the mug size and your preference all matter. A squeeze that works in one drink may overwhelm another.

Brew the tea first
Make the tea according to its packet directions and remove the bag when instructed. Taste a plain portion once it is comfortable to drink. This gives you a reference for judging what the lemon changes.
Try a small squeeze
Add a few drops of lemon juice, stir and taste again. Keep adding gradually if you want more citrus flavour. A slice offers another way to try the combination, but its flavour can continue to change while it remains in the cup.
Keep sweetness separate
If you also want honey or another sweetener, test it after you have decided on the lemon. Changing both together makes it harder to repeat the balance you enjoy. Note the cup size and your approximate additions for the next brew.
What about hibiscus tea?
Our hibiscus tea offers one option to explore, but taste it first rather than assuming it needs extra sharpness. You may prefer it plain, or enjoy a different tea with lemon instead. Keep the experiment small and choose the combination that suits your taste. For a cold drink, follow our existing iced hibiscus tea guide and adjust the finished cup carefully.
